One reason programmers dislike meetings so much is that they're on a different type of schedule from other people. Meetings cost them more.
I've been compromising too much lately. If you start seeing declined meeting requests from me, this is why. Meetings any time other than first thing in the day just destroy my morale for coding. Read the linked essay if you want to understand more.
