Incentives are dangerous. Good managers aren't. So forget about that jet engine and get back to the slow, messy business of actually interacting with your employees.

Life has too many variables for anyone to build a perfect set of incentives. That's a good thing for managers, because if it weren't true we engineers would just replace them with software.
